Stephanie Miess

Stephanie Miess is passionate about developing each child's dance abilities and maintaining dance as an art form. She graduated from Brigham Young Universily in Dance Education. With 20+ years of experience teaching contemporary dance, she focuses on enhancing technique, creativity, choreography, and self-image. Throughout her career as an educator, studio teacher, and owner, she has found that every student can contribute to the dance world through performing, teaching, or supporting this beautiful art form. With the dance world leaning towards competition, Stephanie emphasizes an artistic approach. Her extensive experience in teaching various styles—ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, tap, folk, and social dance—has shaped this belief. Stephanie developed a new method combining equal techniques from Ballet and Modern, promoting superior technique while preserving each student's creativity and personal contribution. This approach encourages broader technical work, improvisation, and expression, allowing students to break stylistic boundaries while maintaining strength and technique.Creative Arts Academy was founded by Stephanie in 2022 with the vision of offering an art school focused on dance, music, and visual arts and enhancing the arts in Magnolia Texas. In the summer of 2024, after learning that their facility was being torn down, Khoren Ouzounian  generously offered to have Stephanie become the Dance Director at Ethos and expand and combine our vision which has facilitated the new Ethos School of the Arts.

Stephanie began her dance journey as a child, enjoying the disciplines of ballet, jazz and tap. She continued her training at BYU, majoring in Dance Education, where she fell in love with Modern technique. Patsy is trained in various dance styles, including ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, tap, folk, and social dance. Her passion for teaching began raising her five children and leading children's music in her local church. With 20 years of studio teaching experience, including time as an assistant director, she realized her vision by opening her own studio in Magnolia in 2022.

Music has also been a significant inspiration in Stephanie's life. She has sung in performing choirs and plays the piano and flute. Stephanie has Kodaly training and is certified in the Royal Conservatory SmartStart program, where she teaches the 2-year-old class at Ethos.

Overall, Stephanie's greatest joy is teaching and nurturing children, which is one of the most fulfilling aspects of her life.
